Source: Aviation News Network - According to Kunming Daily, Kunming Changshui International Airport (hereinafter referred to as "Kunming Airport") has recently received certification for its CGC Carbon Management System, making it the first airport in China to achieve this milestone.

The CGC Carbon Management System operates on the principle of lifecycle carbon management, employing a risk and opportunity-based approach and adhering to the "Plan-Do-Check-Act" management framework. It sets out normative requirements for organizations to manage their carbon activities and enhance their carbon management performance. The establishment of the carbon management system at Kunming Airport represents a concrete implementation of the national "Dual Carbon" strategy and the industry's green development requirements. It significantly enhances the airport’s capacity for carbon emission management and aligns with the trends of sustainable development.

In recent years, Kunming Airport has actively promoted the "Dual Carbon" strategy. In accordance with the Civil Aviation Administration of China’s green development requirements and the Yunnan Aviation Industry Investment Group's "14th Five-Year Plan for Green Development," the airport has completed the construction of an energy management platform. Efforts have included transitioning from oil to electricity, implementing energy-saving lighting modifications, building photovoltaic systems, advancing plastic pollution control, and improving waste sorting facilities. These initiatives reflect a comprehensive approach to green and low-carbon development at the airport.

Moving forward, Kunming Airport will continue to lead with the "carbon peak and carbon neutrality" strategy, further refining its low-carbon management system, optimizing operational strategies, and expanding new energy infrastructure. The airport will actively pursue energy-saving and emission reduction measures, working in concert to reduce carbon emissions, mitigate pollution, and expand green initiatives. By leveraging its advantages and innovative capabilities, Kunming Airport aims to set a benchmark in green and low-carbon development within the civil aviation sector.
