$3 Billion! Collaboration Between Indonesia and Chinese Company to Build Bali's Northern Airport

PT. BIBU Panji Sakti has agreed with China Construction Group Corporation to advance the construction of the North Bali International Airport, signing a Framework Agreement (HOA) in Shanghai.

On November 24, Indonesia's PT. BIBU Panji Sakti and China Construction Group Corporation signed the HOA in Shanghai to formalize cooperation on the North Bali International Airport project. This agreement builds on the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed two weeks earlier in Beijing, marking a more concrete implementation phase for the project.

PT. BIBU Panji Sakti President Erwanto said the project, aligned with President Prabowo's directive, will accelerate development and is planned for completion by the end of 2027. It will include the airport, an Aerotropolis, and surrounding new city developments.

Besides signing the agreement, both parties engaged in detailed discussions during the forum about technical plans and financial strategies to ensure the project progresses as scheduled.

Meanwhile, Yu Xueze, Chairman of China Construction Group, emphasized the company's commitment to the Buleleng International Airport project in North Bali. “The North Bali International Airport project is a remarkable endeavor that embodies harmony between culture, nature, and humanity. We are proud to be part of this globally impactful initiative,” Yu stated.

Indonesian Ambassador Djauhari Oratmangun also expressed his support, saying, “This project is a clear testament to the close relationship between Indonesia and China, particularly in developmental cooperation and strategic investments.”

Previously, PT. BIBU Panji Sakti secured a $3 billion investment (equivalent to 50 trillion Indonesian Rupiah) from China Construction Group Corporation.

PT. BIBU clarified that constructing the airport on the beach will not compromise productive land, displace residential areas, or affect places of worship. It also stated that the project would not disturb historical sites in Buleleng Regency through methods like degradation or land reclamation. Instead, community land will be leased, and land ownership will remain unchanged.

In May this year, representatives from various regions of Bali participated in meetings initiated by PT. BIBU Panji Sakti to discuss the North Bali Airport project.
